A New Cross Road

I absolutely loves surprises, so Zach took that in to consideration when carefully planning his proposal.

I spent my summer following in Zach's footsteps as Head Girls' Cabin Staff at Glen Lake Camp, the place where we met two years before. Halfway through the summer, there was a 1/2 week off and Zach fully utilized this to pop the question. The Friday before I was supposed to have off I received a call from my boss asking that I report back to the camp a day early, which happened to be our two year anniversary. I immediately called Zach upset (finally having decided to celebrate an anniversary) knowing that our plans would have to be cancelled. Zach agreed to call the camp and ask what it was about and if anything could be done. (He never called.) Zach told me that they could simply celebrate things earlier in the day and I could go back to work and not to worry.

When I arrived at the camp, I had to search for her boss who proceeded to tell her she needed to have a meeting and do a mid-summer review of things with the other people on the leadership team. Part way through the impromptu meeting, the boss announced he forgot to clean up the cross on the cliff (which is one of my favorite spots) and only had 30 minutes to do it until the next group would be using the site. He asked for help, and so exactly as Zach expected, I volunteered.

We arrived at the top of the hill when I realized we had forgotten trash bags, however, I thought we could do it without them. I was to start at the cross and my boss at the road and we would meet in the middle. Not a minute into it, I had bottles and trash in her hands when Zach appeared from the woods.

Thinking I was seeing things, I took the long way to reach the spot Zach stood as he kneeled and asked her to marry him. I quickly agreed and we proceeded to walk through the camp and finally, 
celebrate with Dairy Queen since Zach had been too nervous to eat prior to the proposal.
