My sister Shelly was working with a girl named Barbie, who I became friends with. Barbie met a guy Danny, in town from New York, in an AOL chat room. She didn't want to meet him alone, so she asked my sister and I to go with her. I told her no at first, but she kept asking and tried to bribe me by saying he was bringing a cute friend. We only went with her to make sure she was safe. That, and we were also her transportation.
In August 1999, we arrived at Gran Prix in Davie, Florida and waited for about two hours. We were ready to leave when it was suggested that maybe the guys were at the other Gran Prix across the street. Upon going there, we met the guys. It turned out to be miscommunication on where we were to meet. We were all tired and I was in no mood to meet anyone, but that is where I met Manny. We talked and exchanged numbers. We had our first date, in which we went to the movies to see Mystery Men, on August 7, 1999.
Our friends are no longer together, but we celebrated our ten-year-anniversary August 7, 2009.
